Take a moment to bid farewell to the long summer days and instead, turn your attention to our favourite autumn winter activity, nesting. If you’re planning any interiors projects or home decor changes for the winter months, we’ve rounded up our favourite interiors trends of the season to help you get your mood board right.

Shades

Shades of blush and cinnamon are here to stay and provide a way to gently add warmth and depth to your interiors. Select several complimentary shades and integrate into your room via upholstery and soft furnishings.

Deep navy blue will become your new neutral for the season. Think of using rich shades in velvet or textured fabrics, or integrate tones through your paint and wall covering. Shades of navy combine beautifully with blush and hints of metallic so you can work a few trends into your plan.

Channel your Pre-Raphaelite style with oversized florals. Perhaps you’re brave enough to bring in these bolder patterns through bed linen or a large rug, or if you prefer a simple paired-back interior, consider using them in small accents, a fabric lampshade, or throw cushion.

Styles

The stand-out trend of this season is for darker, textured kitchens. Move away from all white and industrial to combinations of marble and wood, deep shades of cabinetry, and metallic handle detail. Soften with low level lighting and upholstered seating to add warmth.

Next up is a push towards new-age folk. Here you’ll see a mix of old and new, antiques next to modern designs, ancient patterns and motifs, all with a 21st century twist. Think maximalist, more is definitely more.

Finally, the focus on bold and sustainable products continues. Homewares and interior ranges increasingly have a social conscience and the market is embracing them. Look out for more artisanal products, tufted rugs, decorative quilts, and rattan homewares, perfect for bringing texture and warmth into the home.

Stuff

The interiors items to look out for this season are decorative mirrors. The more embellished the better and you should plan to make these a focal point in your room.

Make sure you include some fringing into your textile selection. Whether it’s around the bottom of your pouffé (another seasonal favourite) or setting off your table lamp, this trend is a beautiful one to incorporate into your plans.

And finally, truly pull together your room scheme with a decadent pendant light. No more chandeliers, now it’s time for a more modern but equally as eye catching light, or multiple pendants grouped together.

So, there you have our round up of autumn winter trends, all that’s left is to get your moodboard underway!
